Fasting

When one hears the word "fasting" he or she usually thinks of food. This is correct, for the most part, but I like to also think of fasting as abstaining from the things that we let control us. For those of us who live on our iPhone it might be a good idea to iFast for a day. Fasting allows us to take away some of the distractions in our lives, and give us a chance to focus on ways to improve ourselves. I once did a month long fast of meat. It completely changed my focus. I had to really think about what I was going to eat for the day. Food is a major controlling force in my life and being able to go a month without eating some of the things that I love, gave me a since of accomplishment. It was like strength training for avoiding temptation. Every now and then you should take a look at what you let control you and consider fasting from it.
