University of "You"

There are a lot of things going on in the world today that many of us could have an impact on.  We will most likely have an impact regardless of what we know of what we are impacting.  Therefore, I urge you to educate yourself on the major issues of the world.  Most of us know that we should exercises regularly to stay in good physical shape, but what about mentally or spiritually.  I have begun receiving the USA Today every day.  I take the time to read through it so that I can be more aware of the different issues that are going on in the world.  I have also started reading a daily devotional.  I also do some yoga or go for a jog now and then, but I believe that the time I take to educate my self is just as invaluable.  So begin working on yourself with a holistic viewpoint. 
When you go to school you often declare a major.  This could be like your ultimate goal in life.  To achieve your goal or attain your degree, you will have to take many different classes.  So remember that at the "University of You" your going to have to take a lot of different subject matter.

Ultimatums

Ultimatums are a waste of time.  They are usually given with the intent of changing someone.  Why change that person?  He or she is their own person and they can make the choice of who they want to be.  If the person that they are conflicts with what you want, you have a choice to remove that person from your life.  If you do give someone an ultimatum and they actually do change, there is still probably going to be some resentment towards you from that person.  I understand that ultimatums are usually given with the intent of improving some area of the person you are giving it to, but ultimatums are not the way to go.  There are alternate routes to take.  You can create what is known as a dilemma.  You do something in your life that conflicts with the actions of the antagonist.  This action sets off a chain reaction where there is nothing left for the other person to do but change or leave.  You have not asked him or her to change, you have only made it impossible for he or she not to.
